Who was Nathanael Greene?

Without going into too much detail on how Chris and Kayne came to choose Natty Greene's as the name for their pub and brewing business, here is a very brief introduction of the main character to the name:

Nathanael Greene was a General in the American Revolutionary War 'fighting' the British in the Carolinas.

Fining and Filtration at Natty Greene's Brewing

At Natty Greene's we do use isinglass to clarify our General Stout, this is a traditional brewing technique and allows us to keep the unique crisp bitter taste of our Irish-style stout. All of our other beers are either not filtered , which is most of our seasonals, or they are which is the case for our Guildford Golden, Buckshot Amber, Southern Pale and Old Town Brown. Those four and some seasonals like the Patriot Extra Pale are filtered by using DE = diatomaceous earth which consists of fossilized remains of diatoms, a type of hard-shelled algae. This is a pure mechanical filtration process.
